As much as I'd love to be out training with the group (and in all 3 disciplines) it's just not happening now. Stop me if you've heard this one before...
Pack you gear for a run and a swim for the day, once before work, once after work... Then, you get an e-mail on you blackberry, stating you need to be in for a meeting first thing in the morning before office hours... Scrap that run. Then you start work and before you know it, the 5:30 evening swim has started and you're still at your desk. hmmm..... Well the only thing I've actually managed to do is sneak in a run over lunch which lasts between 6 and 8 kms depending on how frustrated you've been with your day. I've become the managerial token runner... kinda hard to be a triathlete when you're only doing a third of the events.
Over the past couple of weeks I've managed to get out at lunch 2-3 times and have been able to follow that up with a longer run on the weekend. So over the past couple of weeks I've been around the 40km/week mark (not too bad considering).
I've tired to go for a swim at lunch, but with all the school swim carnivals on the go, no swimming at the Valley pool for a couple more weeks.
I've had three new positions approved at work and the resumes are starting to flow in, so hopefully only another month and a bit before I can get some sense of normalcy into my training again. The other kicker with this too, is Colleen has been very busy in her new permanent teaching position and most of her spare time is spent preparing lesson plans. Today was a classic example of her typical Saturdays. Vaughn goes down for a nap, she heads to the dinning room and usually I head in letting her know dinner is ready.
Tomorrow I'm going to get my arse out there with some of the gang for an easy 90km ride which will be very nice to do.... Ride, coffee and smack talk = a ton of fun.
That's about it for me, not much other than work and trying to keep my sanity.
See you soon
